A more significant discovery in the past few years has involved the discovery of multiple iron-copper-gold deposits near Chiniot in the Punjab. Many questions have been raised, however, regarding the feasibility of mining such deposits. Pakistan has over 5,000 operational mines of copper, gold, bauxite, lead, zinc, iron and chromite.
